Abstract
Two substances of a red and pink colour were discovered associated with two glassunguentaria, whose bodies could be identified as Isings 10 and 11, in the Roman colony ofCelsa, in the middle valley of the Ebro river (Spain). The contents of theseunguentariahave been analysed and studied with X-ray Diffraction, FTIR Spectrometry and Particle Induced X-ray Emission. This study shows two different substances based on a mixture of gypsum and calcite, coloured with hematite, and impregnated with a binder of animal origin. Both products could be associated with a cosmetic use.
